30% wanted a storyline to follow not just random clips
30% wanted a performance and story so they see how the artist performs but also how they interpret the song
10% wanted performance and narrative (another 10% for narrative) so they see the artist perform but the words are like a poem telling a story there may be a cut in the video to fill in some blanks
10% wanted abstract where the music video is arty and may not have any connection to the song or one that has connection maybe not using people or using lots of effects

60% of the people we questioned watch music videos on the internet more than any other format.as technology moves on more people change to things they can use on the move using laptops and gaining access to exclusive videos from the internet or fan pages to watch the videos. you tube is a popular site to gain access to music videos new and old without the charge to text in the video you would like to see.

Most people watch music video weekly maybe to catch up on weekly releases or because it is the only time they have time. 30% watch them daily so they must watch the same music video at least once or twice a week so it has to draw them to watch it again and again

70% of the people who said yes said they could relate to the situation and can make the music video more believable so they have a connection. This tells that a real life situation is fitting for our song choice and some of the audience can relate.

WHY DO LIKE OR DISLIKE THE MUSIC VIDEO TO HAVE SPECIAL EFFECTS?

Of those 80% that said yes they said it makes the music video interesting and draws the audience attention and makes them stop stop from changing channel or to a next song and keep watching. Of those 20% who said no they said it ruins flow and it can ruin whole narrative. this tells us that if we use special effects use it when needed or create a effect that matches the mood created by the song e.g black and white for a flashback or sepia to crate an old feel


WHAT MAKE A MUSIC VIDEO CAPTIVATING?

we asked people what makes a music video captivating? we wanted to find out what attracts them to watch the video so we know what and what not to include in our video they replied that there had to be a great storyline, that it should convey the meaning of the song, special effects with a mix of locations, performance by the artist, a storyline that relates to the lyrics. so we know that the music video would be boring with one location and it would be confusing if the storyline does not relate to the lyrics.


TO THE SONG "DON'T SPEAK" BY NO DOUBT WHAT WOULD YOU VISUALISE THERE TO BE IN THE MUSIC VIDEO?
